Layoff Chaos

The chaos continued on May 5th when management attempted to give us another layoff list, but then pulled it back when we started asking questions and pointing out obvious errors and bad business decisions on the new list. We were then told that the letters scheduled to go out today would be put on hold and the layoff list would be reconsidered.

Many employees are scheduled to be laid off or bumped to new assignments on May 7th, and the uncertainty and disorganized handling of the layoffs is incredibly stressful for all of Jackson employees. COO David Small called for an emergency management meeting today at 3 p.m. where we were told that the layoff list would be reevaluated. At the end of the day, we were told that the layoff list was getting reworked and that we would be receiving a new list tomorrow (Thursday). Affected employees would also be receiving notification letters tomorrow.

If the new list still contains layoffs that reflect bad business decisions or affect patient care, we will continue to fight these layoffs.

We will keep you updated as we receive more information.
