Thursday, September 22nd, 2005, SEIU Local 1991 President, Martha Baker, RN brought over 1,000 signatures of JMH workers before the Miami-Dade County Commissioners, requesting to restore fair funding to Jackson in the upcoming fiscal year. This public hearing presentation was a key moment in the ongoing campaign on the part of SEIU Local 1991 members, through emails, phone calls and meetings with commissioners, to ensure financial stability for the hospital, increasing the funds available for the improved working conditions we seek and quality healthcare we provide. Your signatures further raised the attention of various commissioners, who spoke in support for the restored funding to Jackson during the budget deliberations that immediately followed the public hearing. We are proud to announce this success thus far and feel secure that our unity will persist in the upcoming weeks of this struggle.
