SEIU Local 1991 has a political, legislative and community action program to stand for our patients and ourselves

Atsenate

SEIU 1991 Nurses (l-r from podium) Martha Baker, RN, Michelle O'Boyle, RN, Barbara Scollon, RN, and Frank Genung, RN, argue for Safe Staffing for Quality Care Act with Barbara DeVane-Gilbert representing Alliance of Retired Americans (left) and Rep. Lois Frankel in front of Florida Senate chamber.

Members of our Local make politics work for our patients and ourselves by:

  • Supporting candidates who are advocates for health security and for improving work conditions for quality health care and supporting initiatives important to members.
  • Advocating for legislation to insure safe staffing levels, improved working conditions, fair retirement benefits, and health security for all Floridians
  • Working with the Nurse Alliance of Florida to give registered nurses a powerful voice in our state to benefit our patients and our profession
  • Working with Jobs with Justice and the South Florida AFL-CIO to protect and extend the rights of working people to a decent life in our community

Our local will only succeed in its goal if each of us pitches in to make our efforts a success. We need each member to become a member political organizer to make politics work for all of us.
