PAD Grievance Has Been Settled
SEIU Local 1991 and JMH have reached a settlement for the Personal AD
days for job-basis nurses that were arbitrarily eliminated 2 years ago.
The highlights of the settlement are:
1. “For
each fiscal year 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, each job basis
nurse
in the unit shall receive an additional two (2) days of PAD
leave,
effective immediately. No leave time shall be given to
any
job basis nurse that causes said nurse to receive PAD time
above
five (5) days per each of these fiscal years. PAD leave
granted
pursuant to this paragraph must be used by September
30,
2008.”
2. “Beginning
October 1, 2006, the parties agree that the nurses’
collective
bargaining agreement requires that on October 1 of
each
fiscal year, each job basis nurse shall receive four (4)
days
of PAD leave, which must be used by September 30 of
the
same fiscal year.”
To summarize, job basis nurses will receive a total of 4 PAD days retroactively to cover the 2 years they did not receive them. Effective immediately, job basis nurses will receive 4 PAD days each year on October 1.
It was a long, hard struggle, but we prevailed!
