County Commission Unanimously

Approves Contract! 

On December 16, the County Commission voted 12-0 in favor of approving the new contracts for RNs and Professionals.

Members turned out in record number on December 8th and 9th to overwhelmingly approve our new three-year, groundbreaking contract. Nurses ratified their contract with a 96% yes vote, while Professionals ratified their contract with 97% yes vote. In these hard economic times we fought off all contract take-aways and won on safe staffing by standing united and strong.

Union Stands Up for CHEMO Safety at JHS
SEIU 1991's fight to improve health and safety issues related to chemotherapy is moving forward. At our request, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has conducted an in-depth investigation of chemotherapy drugs exposure at Jackson. The interim report with the following findings is now in, and we are set to meet with management to demand implementation of the recomendations. (read report)
